the coach of Real Madrid, as the next manager of the Brazilian national team.
The President of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, stated that the Italian coach, Ancelotti, will lead Brazil in the 2024 Copa America after his contract expires at Bernabeu.
When asked about Ancelotti, Lula said, “He has never coached Italy. Why didn’t he fix Italy’s problems, who didn’t even play in the last World Cup in 2022?”
Ancelotti, who is 64 years old, has coached Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Madrid in his 28-year managerial career – becoming the only coach to win four Champions League titles – but he has never coached a national team.
During his time at Madrid, Ancelotti coached Brazilian international players such as Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Éder Militão.
Lula, a fan of Corinthians, added, “It’s very easy to lead a team in Europe with 11 national team players. It’s difficult to come here and fix Corinthians, who are facing relegation. I want to see if Ancelotti can fix Corinthians. My Corinthians is suffering.”
Lula praised Fernando Diniz, who was announced as the interim manager of Brazil with a one-year contract while still holding a role at the Fluminense club.
Lula said that Diniz has “personality, creativity, and the ability to lead the locker room” and he believes Diniz “will make good use” of this opportunity.
Brazil, who has won the World Cup five times, has not had a permanent coach since the resignation of Tite after being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in December.
Ramon Menezes, the coach of the Brazil U-20 national team, has been coaching the national team since then.
